New Year! New You? With the New Year upon us the question of ‘Change’ is invited; “What can we do to Change?”. Many individuals use the New Year as an excuse to Re-Invent oneself but why wait till the New Year? “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw. No matter what time of Year you are reading this, discover your vision, take the action and create change! But where do we start?

Pursue your Vision:

Vision! Do you have a vision?, An idea?, A goal you want to achieve?. Start by discovering what it is you want to peruse. Make a goal and chase it! Many individuals then discover their vision and stop there. Do NOT make excuses. BolderGrowth has used many quotes from Mahatma Gandhi; how can we not he says thing such as this. “The future depends on what you do today”.

Finding your vision may not be easy at first but by being Mindful it is definitely discoverable. From there you need to work hard, your vision will not merely come to affect before your eyes.

Manage your Fear:

Managing your Fear may be the most crucial part of this post. Our fear holds us back thus holding us back from achieving our vision. There are many resources that will help you understand just how fear can prevent you from doing anything; you might not even be aware!

Feel the Fear and do it anyway‘ by Susan Jeffers truly delves into the depths of fear and how without knowing it our lives are greatly affected. This book provides many tools and techniques I have been using in my everyday life to hit fear on the head.

Consequently, Fear, in essence, is designed to hold you back! Through our primal urges, we are held back from uncertainty, the unknown and many more potential opportunities. This is countered a number of ways. Therefore I will highlight one below just before we wrap up.

Improve your Confidence:

Confidence is one of the biggest tools we can use to fight fear. We will always feel fear and it is very little we can do about this fact. But with confidence, we can overcome it. Many people starting a new job, walking into a classroom to teach or many other situations can all be helped with a boost in confidence. “Positivity, confidence, and persistence are key in life, so never give up on yourself” Khalid. Try these techniques below to boost confidence and overcome fear at the moment:

Power Pose!

First of all Power Posing is controversial as to whether it works or not. In my experience it does. A clear example is when you are at the gym and you hype yourself up before a set. You know it doesn’t Biologically make you stronger but it is a great ritual of preparation. Power Posing works in exactly the same way. Scientists argue as to whether it changes hormones, signals in the brain etc… but does this really matter when it clearly does help to prepare yourself for something unexpected.

Therefore try power posing the next time you feel anxious, afraid or worries about something; the effects can be great in preparing you for what’s to come! Click Here for a list of Great Power Poses (Credit to Oz Media LLC).

Breathing is without a doubt one of the greatest and most effective ways of boosting self confidence. Headspace is amazing app which provides many audio tapes which provide the environment you require to sit and simply breath! Click here for more details.

Another simpler method would to simply sit; back straight and breath! 5 seconds in through the nose, hold…. followed by 5 seconds out the mouth. “Breath is the finest gift of nature. Be grateful for this wonderful gift.” – Amit Ray.


Positivity may seem obvious but is often overlooked “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” – Henry Ford. To be positive think positive. Looking back at our previous examples in regards to when we feel fear, the classroom, a new job. We can simply use this technique to help how we manage those situations. “We will do great in our new job”, “you are an amazing teacher”.

This method of thinking is often found cliche but don’t waver; it has been proven to have great ‘positive’ effects mentally and even physically!

Track Progress

As discussed in the post ‘The Fundamentals of starting anything from Scratch‘ we discuss planning and keeping track of progress. This can be applied to this exact situation. In order to overcome fear and move swiftly towards your vision there needs to be a clear and concise plan. Start small and build up from there.


To conclude; in order to create change and achieve our vision we must first overcome our fear. This is done through a number of techniques some of which are within this post. Once we light the fire of change we need to track progress in order to consistently move forward. Give yourself the green light to continue forward.
